Private transportation, your way

Private transportation gives your group more flexibility to plan the day around what works for you.

Tell us what you have in mind, and we’ll let you know what we can accommodate.

What works for you

Private vs. scheduled transportation

Our scheduled shuttles follow set departures and itineraries to Moraine Lake and Lake Louise.

Private transportation is different. Instead of joining a scheduled departure, your group can request transportation based on your preferred timing, destinations and stops, subject to availability and where we’re licensed to operate.

If our scheduled shuttle already fits your plans, there’s no need to make things more complicated. But if your group needs more flexibility, private transportation may be a better fit.

Where can we take you?

We currently offer private transportation within Banff National Park and Yoho National Park.

We are not currently licensed to provide transportation to Jasper, Waterton or Provincial Parks.

Access to some destinations is also seasonal. Moraine Lake access is controlled by Parks Canada, so transportation there is subject to current access conditions.

Travelling with a wheelchair?

Our vehicle has 18 passenger seats plus two wheelchair spaces, and using the wheelchair spaces does not reduce the number of passenger seats available.

The bus is equipped with a Braun wheelchair lift with a 1,000-pound capacity and a four-point securement system with a safety belt. Passengers can remain in their wheelchair while travelling.

Have questions about boarding or accessibility before requesting your trip? Visit our accessibility page for more information about the vehicle, lift, boarding process and accessibility at the destinations.

A few things to know before you request

Private transportation is subject to our existing bookings and where Rainbow Rockies is currently licensed to operate.

For Moraine Lake and Lake Louise transportation, Rainbow Rockies operates seasonally. Moraine Lake access is controlled by Parks Canada.

Private bookings require a minimum of six guests and must be booked at least 12 hours before departure.

Because a custom trip takes our bus out of scheduled service for that day, custom and private transportation bookings are non-refundable once booked. We know plans can change, though, so we’ll happily try to reschedule you if we can.
